Why are Ooni Ovens so popular in Ireland?
Ooni ovens have continually been one of our best selling and most requested products at the Outdoor Scene. There are many reasons for this, and one being that Ooni ovens are so versatile. You can choose the Ooni oven thats right for you with what fuel you wish to use. Gas, Hardwood Pellets or charcoal. There’s an Ooni. Ooni ovens are also exceptionally portable and lightweight making them a breeze to carry around with you and transport. Making them ideal for camping trips or bringing with you to a neighbours party.
But what about cooking outdoors in the notoriously temperamental Irish weather?
Cooking in the rain
Rain is a fact of life here in Ireland. As one of the wettest countries in the world, we have our fair share of Rainy Days. But what do you do on a dull, misty day when you really would like some Pizza to brighten your day? Well we’re glad to say, Ooni ovens work great in the rain. Both wood and gas options will fire up for you when lit and the oven is designed so water can’t get in. Make sure to keep your wood supplies dry when placing them in the oven. And when you’re done and the oven has cooled off, make sure you have a cover for your oven to protect it from dirt and grime.
Cooking in the Sun
Of course, you’re going to want to make some fresh pizza during the rare Sunny days we get in Ireland. And it’s a perfect time to break out your Ooni pizza oven. But there’s a couple of things to watch out for. On the rare hot day we get, make sure to keep checking your Pizza oven’s internal temperature and make sure it doesn’t go above 500c as you may weaken your pizza oven and it will burn your food. Make sure to give your oven breaks in between each cook in warm weather to prevent overheating. And finally, don’t leave it in direct sunlight. Use your cover when it has cooled off.
Cooking in the cold
And of course, you can use your Ooni oven when it is cold, even snowy and you really want a winter warmer pizza. With cold weather, you will need to give your oven a little more time to pre-heat in colder temperatures. And it is worth storing the pizza stone inside before you cook to make sure it stays dry or else you might have problems getting it up to temperature. And if in the rare chance it snows. Bring your Ooni oven inside to prevent any potential damage.
Cooking in the cold using your Ooni Oven? Here’s some handy tips!
– Give time to pre-heat your oven and get it up to your desired temparature first
-Keep your Pizza stone indoors at room temprature till its time to cook to keep it dry and help it heat up faster. Don’t forget to keep your pizza peels and other accessories indoors and keep them dry too to prevent your food sticking to them
-Keep your Peel cool between bakes and make sure not to let any condensation form on them
– If there is a breeze outside, put your oven with it’s back to the wind to help protect the fire. Try not to let wind into your open oven or it may keep the flames down
– Give your oven time to recharge between baking and get back up to temprature.
